Carlalberto Guglielminotti is Founder and CEO of NHOA Group (NHOA.PA).
Since May 2021 he is also Executive Chairman of Free2move eSolutions, the company created from the joint venture between NHOA and Stellantis (STLA:PA) and since 2021 Founder of Atlante, the company of NHOA Group dedicated to installing and operating a fast and ultra-fast charging network in Southern Europe.
Appointed in 2020 Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum 2020, Carlalberto Guglielminotti was also recognized with The Executive Award Italy 2023 - Honoring Sustainable Leaders. He is also Ambassador of Theodora Foundation and Secretary General of the Ciolina Foundation.
Moreover, he is a member of the Board of the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) and of Leadersel Innotech ESG Scientific Committee (Ersel).
Entrepreneurial engagement
Carlalberto Guglielminotti is a serial entrepreneur. He co-founded two successful startups, Blackshape Aircraft and Restopolis, now TheFork (TripAdvisor), and co-founder of NHOA, acting as CEO since 2013, leading its listing at the Paris stock exchange in 2015 and reaching in 2021 over €450 million market capitalization.
He transformed a technology start up into Electro Power Systems in ENGIE Eps at first, and then into NHOA Group, today among the top global players in energy storage and European leader in e-mobility thanks to Free2move eSolutions, the JV with Stellantis. In 2021 he launched Atlante, the new company of the Group of which will develop the largest EV fast and ultra-fast charging network in Southern Europe, enabled 100% by renewables and energy storage.
NHOA Group: from a start-up to a global leader in energy transition
Guglielminotti turned NHOA Group from a spin-off of the Politecnico di Torino and Milano into a worldwide player in energy storage and e-mobility.
Born in 2005 as Electro Power Systems (Eps), with the arrival of Guglielminotti in 2013, the company completed a complex financial restructuring in record time and in 2015 was listed on Euronext in Paris with a market cap of 55 million euros.
In 2018 ENGIE, global energy leader, acquired a majority stake of EPS for an Enterprise Value of over 100 million euros from its historic shareholders, and then subsequently launched the takeover bid on the French stock exchange leading it to acquire over 60% of EPS capital.
In 2021 TCC, an industrial Asian group and leading battery producer in Taiwan, acquired ENGIE’s stake for an Enterprise Value of over 230 million euros, unfolding new horizons ahead for Eps, which on 20 July 2021 became NHOA.
In May 2021, from the historic collaboration between NHOA and Stellantis, among the top 5 global automakers, was born the joint venture Free2move eSolutions which designs, produces in Italy and commercializes worldwide innovative products and services for electric vehicles.
In July 2021 NHOA launched Atlante, the first EV fast and ultra-fast charging network in Southern Europe, enabled by 100% renewable energy, battery storage and grid-integrated.
NHOA Group, which reached in 2021 over 450 million euros market cap, has offices in France, Spain, US, Taiwan and Australia, and maintains R&D in its Global Engineering Center in Milan, production and manufacturing in its industrial plant in Valtellina.
With almost 600 people of 40 nationalities and a unique team of engineers, NHOA Group has filed 130 patents around the world and over 1,200 industrial secrets.
Sustainability has always been the main focus for NHOA Group and is deeply rooted in the nature of its business units, all dedicated to a single mission: enabling the global transition towards clean energy and sustainable mobility, shaping a better future for next generations so that they can live in harmony with our planet.
Pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Sustainability Strategy is rooted in two pillars, People and Innovation while also recognizing that Innovation cannot exist without People. NHOA’s Sustainability Strategy is built around enhancing people both inside and outside the company and in 2023, Guglielminotti launched an ambitious employee policy, the People Strategy, aimed at all employees and extending its application beyond the organization.
With the People Strategy rooted in the values of inclusion and diversity, physical and mental wellbeing of employees, Guglielminotti created for NHOA one of the most advanced corporate welfare and wellbeing programs in Europe, the NHOA Élite Program, which provides all employees with the tools to become élite leaders in their respective fields.
The NHOA Élite Program also extends to initiatives developed or supported by NHOA that embrace communities and educate on diversity and inclusion. Among these is the NHOA Ski Team, a unique social project with the ambition to become a national educational model for all sports clubs that feel the responsibility to raise young people in a context of excellence, balance, and inclusion.
Unconventional education
Carlalberto Guglielminotti was born in Turin in 1983 and spent his childhood and teenage years devoting himself mainly to alpine skiing and mountaineering.
Meanwhile, from the age of 15 and until his transfer to Paris, he worked as a metalworker with his father, as well as spending his holidays and free time working as a sports manager in resorts and cruise ships, while volunteering as a 118 rescuer.
After abandoning his dream of practicing a professional sport, he focused on his studies, getting two Law degrees in France and Italy and continuing his studies in the United States and in Philosophy in Israel.
He also obtained an MBA from SDA Bocconi, integrating his management training in the best universities of the United States, Wharton and Stanford.
Family and sport engagement
Carlalberto is a ski, tennis and mountaineering lover which he practices in Vigezzo Valley with his wife Claudia and their children Tommaso, Edoardo and Vittoria. As he often remembers, his family is the result he is most proud of, and the time spent doing sports together is never enough.
Community engagement
In parallel with his entrepreneurial career, Carlalberto Guglielminotti is very engaged in social matters and supports the community with different roles:
• Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, an international independent organization improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, and academic leaders;
• Ambassador for the Theodora Foundation, which brings moments of play to hospitalized children;
• Secretary General for the Ciolina Foundation, which aims at promoting the artistic and cultural heritage of Italian Divisionism and Post-Impressionism, as well as the Vigezzo Valley.
